An excellent CD that showcases Tim's unique jazz voice and his incredible chops. Using a hybrid picking style with fingers and pick, his playing is nothing short of amazing. Elements of Keith Jarrett, Allan Holdsworth, Chick Corea, and Mick Goodrick can be heard as influences on his playing. This is a cutting edge CD for those interested in one of the new leaders in the progressive jazz scene. Highly recommended...also his new CD Trio2 available on his website timmillermusic.com.

Berkelee Collge of Music Guitar Professor Tim Miller's sound successfully bridges the gap between the current crop of east-coast progressive jazz guitarists (think Kurt Rosenwinkel, Adam Rogers, Ben Monder, etc.) and legato icon Allan Holdsworth. His remarkable electric-acoustic tone (achieved by close-miking the body of his chambered Klein guitar) however, has a natural chorus-like quality that is uniquely his own.

On this remarkable recording, he sucessfully distills all of the most thrilling aspects of modern jazz guitar. Leading his highly dynamic rhythm section (consisting of upright bass and drums) through this set of amazing original tunes, Tim displays a sophisticated harmonic songwriting approach that further reveals his debt to Holdworth. Tim's more succinct and organic songwriting constantly draws the listener in, though, rather than (in my humble opinion) pushing away, as some of Holdworth's solo work tends to do. This album represents a fully realized vision of what Holdworth seems to have been trying to achieve on "Sixteen Men of Tain".

Amos Lassen and Literary Pride

Just announces as a Lambda Book Award winner is Tim Miller's "1001 Beds". Miller is an internationally acclaimed performer as well as a gay rights activist and his artistry is based upon a combination of performance, politics and identity. He entertains with material based upon his own personal experiences to relay to others about gay American life. Nothing is beyond his touch. He tackles gay sex, relationships, political disenfranchisement and artistic censorship. This book is a look at his professional and personal life and we see the real Tim Miller. The volume includes scripts of his performances, essays, interviews, entries from his journal, and photographs. Also included is the test of his most recent stage piece, "Us".

The book has been edited by Glen Johnson and what the editor has dome is to bring us the Tim Miller experience, something that seems almost impossible to do. It is the most difficult of tasks to put charisma on paper but Johnson has managed to do just that. Miller uses his body in his performances and this book is rooted in body.

Miller began his career in performance art with skits about growing up gay. When the AIDS epidemic became a part of our lives, Miller became attracted to the militant Act Up and his focus became much more pointed politically. Merging performance and politics, Miller found his place.

I loved the movie when I watched it years ago. My daughter reminded me of it and we tried at all the video stores to hire it without luck...that's why I bought it.
It is about a marriage on the rocks and is funny in places with the couple learning to fall inlove again. You won't be disappointed with the ending. I can't remember any swearing in it and think it is a basically clean movie.
