This well wrought book tells an immigrant's experience, which seems to be popular these days. London in particular has served as the locus for many of these novels, but rarely has one been so well presented as this. Lev, Tremain's hero, leaves an unnamed Eastern Bloc country, taking the familiar route of heading to a more prosperous country in order to provide a better life for his family back home. But the vitality of the writing and the characterizations are so vividly drawn that this makes for compelling reading. Even Lev himself is not a cookie cutter innocent, wide eyed and naive, but complex and flawed who at times makes questionable choices. He remains sympathetic because of his motivations. And there are satiric set pieces that are equally horrific and hilarious (such as the description of a play "no one in London has seen the likes of," and thank God for that. There is also the pretentiousness of the art scene, and the tyrannical hierarchy of restaurant working. It would be unfair to tell any more of the plot, since Lev's journey should be experienced by a reader first hand.

This is a very peaceful collection of songs by some talented choirs. We like to listen to it on Sunday mornings, and it has become our favorite of our religious music.

I was a little disappointed in this book. It was not nearly as good as her first book. "It's all About Him".
Actually some of the same stories were in this book as well. It was very short, only 127 pages. Alot of good scriptures and some encouraging words for anyone needing a spiritual lift and trying to find God's way in their life. I think she should try and write something else now. i love Alan Jackson so that is one reason I wanted to read it.
