![]() The Illustrated Alamo 1836: A Photographic Journey $49.95 I bought this book at a yard sale. I liked it because of its sturdy binding and heavy pages, but it just had too much BROWN. It needed its smile brought out. I used my scrapbooking pens to cross out "1836". I re-wrote the cover to read, "The Illustrated Alamogordo." My office assistant and I paste new properties onto the pages as they're listed so clients can flip through something fun when they come in. I set it on the coffee table in our waiting area next to a coon skin cap I got at the Halloween store. I'd recommend this book to anybody looking for something with "good bones." It's perfect for a fun project. ![]() The Alamo (Full Screen Edition) $14.99 Of all the Alamo movies, this is the best ever, and I've seen about all of them sans one or two. It is also the most accurate portrayal of the battle I have seen. Quaid's portrayal of Sam Houston, and Thornton's Crockett were done superbly. Patric's Jim Bowie rounds out the trio with each role not overshadowing the other. One part of the story which was not shown in this film is when Col William Barrett Travis supposedly drew the line in the sand with his saber when addressing the defenders. This has always been in controversy and the director shied away from that. Enjoy ![]() The Alamo/The Kentuckian $19.98 THE KENTUKIAN and THE ALAMO are two great American films. THE KENTUKIAN is a wonderful film about our American historical on the way West. Man and boy set out to reach Texas and find all sorts of trouble along the way. Bernard Herrmann's score sets the haunting mood of this film with real gusto. I will never forget this one. THE ALAMO is John Wayne's epic retelling of this tragic and melancholic event. Dimitri Tiomkin's score is wonderfully reflective. These two films are enchantingly represented here. |
