![]() 4play $15.98 Don't get me wrong. I'm a DJ and a huge Berlin fan. I have all of the original albums as well as Terri Nunn's solo work, and the newer `Voyeur' album. I recently purchased this to complete my collection. I can honestly say that this is the worst thing the band has ever produced. First off, there are only two actual Berlin songs. The rest are covers of diverse artists that range from Marilyn Manson to Peter Gabriel. The covers are not well done, and there's almost no Berlin style added to them. I can't imagine anyone liking them. The two Berlin songs are better, but not by much. The Berlin that does sex so well with just enough subtlety and atmosphere to keep it flirty is gone. These songs are no less than pornographic. There's no class or subtlety at all. If the previous material was a Courtesan or a Call-girl, the 4play album is a trashy street-walker. The only redeeming song is a Terri Nunn solo cover of "For What it's Worth", but the sheer inappropriateness of Terri Nunn singing Buffalo Springfield is enough to ruin this too. Take my advice, DO NOT BUY this album. Get Voyeur instead, if you don't have it already. It's an incredible album that fully shows Terri Nunn's talent and spark. 4play is a stain on Berlin's previously immaculate record. Please don't buy this album, I did with the highest of hopes, and I found nothing but random covers and crude sexual references. The cover-art is pretty hot, though. ![]() All the Way In [CD/DVD][Deluxe Edition] $18.98 The sound quality on this CD is not as bad as a couple other reviewers put forth. I've heard far worse sound quality on live albums of other bands. It's a good berlin album. I would give it 5 stars, but I have all but 2 or 3 of these songs on other Berlin studio albums. Somebody to Love is a new one. She sings it well, but you can't top Grace Slick. She should have sexed that song up a bit Terri Nunn style, or somehow made it her own. I especially liked the DVD. It's a good bargain to get both DVD and CD for the price here at amazon.I saw her live during the Sacred and Profane tour. I thought that album and live show was a step or star better than this one. Still, can't complain. I'm listening to and enjoying this Berlin effort quite a lot. I hope Terri puts out a new studio album before she retires. If you get a chance to see her live, do it, she has great charisma with an audience. Another really good version of Sex I'm A on this CD by the way. ![]() Berlin - Intimate $19.99 The set is a very nice balance of old and new, as well as a few covers. * Masquerade * The Metro * Drug * No More Words * Shiny * Pleasure Victim * Lost My Mind * Stranger on the Bus * The Dope Show (a Marilyn Manson cover) * Blink of an Eye * Take My Breath Away * Sex (I'm a) * With a Touch * Never Let Me Down Again (a Depeche Mode song) |
