Talk about cheap. We got one of these for my daughter's birthday and I was excited. I had one when I was a kid. It turned on when I put in the batteries (more later) but the on/off switch did not work. So I took it back and got another. Same problem, on/off switch did not work. Talk about quality control issues.

Another complaint. I would prefer the old school electric plug, but they've switched to batteries. Fine. The bulb they use is smaller than a night light bulb, yet it takes 3 D size batteries to run it. Are you kidding me? I think you could light that with 1 C in 1970. Inefficient, wasteful, bad for the environment, expensive to run.

Design could not be much worse. Find a 20 year old model on eBay.

This is a battery for Panasonic digital camcorders. The battery is also a Panasonic brand. This battery charges quickly, and holds a charge well.Like most batteries, you will notice the battery dies quite quickly if you use the LCD screen. This is kind of a vicious circle: You bought the camcorder because of the nice LCD screen, but you are hesitant to use it because the battery dies so quickly. A happy medium may be to buy a camcorder with a color viewfinder.All in all, a good battery, and a good value.

These units exceeded my expectations. They are dead easy to charge as you just plug an extension cord into the side of the unit (why didn't anyone else think of that). A clear digital indicator tells you the status of the charge. It even has a small cooling fan that runs during charging. We use these units for operating 12 VDC instruments in the field so we want a unit that will, at least, last all day. The jury is still out on this since few have been used yet but expectations are high.
