This CD under the name Kathy Lee was done about three years before he appeared on American Idol as Kathy Lee Cook where she finished either 5th or 6th as I recall. However, the CD reveals an amazingly talented young country western singer with a superb style and vocal range. I attribute her ranking on American Idol as more the product of the fact that there was so much great talent this year than her lack of star potential. We'll certainly be seeing a lot of her in the future.

I followed Melinda throughout her journey on American Idol and was dissapointed when she didn't win. This album was dissapointing at best. I felt the whole album should have been jazz. It seemed like she was all over the place and not very focused. She has a beautiful voice. Perhaps the struggle is finding what genre works best for her.

The funny thing is, I wasn't crazy about Brooke on American Idol. I liked her, but I didn't love her. However, I thought she had potential, so I downloaded a couple of the recommended songs on her High Hopes and Heartbreak album and I liked them so much, I bought the entire album. Even my husband, who doesn't think today's music can compare with his favorites from the 60s and 70s, started humming along when I played the CD in the car. Eventually I found myself preferring to listen to Brooke than a whole lot of other singers, so I came here and ordered this album. And am I happy I did. I think it's terrific. I love her cover of Dream On, but I also really like Come To My Rescue, In Love, and Change. Actually, there's not a title I don't like. And if anyone hasn't heard her duet with Michael Johns, Life Is Okay, you don't know what you're missing. Download it. You'll play it over and over.
