Wouldn't You Miss Me?: The Best of Syd Barrett
Wouldn't You Miss Me?: The Best of Syd Barrett

Syd Barrett as you was the founder of Pink Floyd and wrote most of the bands psychedlic masterpiece debut album, "The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn", this album samples 22 of his greatest songs realesed during his short famed solo carrerr and is a musical adventure each and every time you listen to any of Syd Barretts songs or albums, all the songs on here are pretty simple but yet maintain a weirdness and psychedelic appeal to them which makes them facinating and interesting to listen too. Of course there's the people out there who think Barrett is underatted which is NOT TRUE I mean if it werent for Syd, Pink Floyd wouldnt be the same band they are today, he helped create that space sound they have, so if you loved The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn you'll also love the solo stuff he did, enjoy, and oh yeah did i say the songs on here are genius.

i first bought this on cassette back in the nineties when i was getting introduced to some of pink floyd's pre darkside of the moon material. i actually like this better than quite a few floyd discs. it has a lot of great songs, "no good trying", "octopus", "long gone", "love you", "dark globe", "here i go" , "terrapin", "late night". 'madcap' is also better than the subsequent barrett albums that were released (1970's barrett album and the rarities collection from '88 opel)

Being a Pink Floyd fan in the 60's (and still am today), I immediately bought this album when it first came out. Syd Barrett was THE man behind Pink Floyd, or so I thought. On playing it, and giving it many plays, I was very disappointed. It was obviously a noble effort by his former bandmates to prop him up. There are a couple of interesting songs, but aside from some historical value, it's not worth the pain to listen to. After nearly 40 years since it's release, I thought I'd give it another shot and borrowed it from the library. My opinion hasn't changed. I still love Pink Floyd, but this Syd Barrett solo effort, even with the help of his talented friends, is just plain awful. My advice is to rent it or borrow it before buying.
