![]() Leisure Suit Larry Collection $19.99 This game is for those who remember the classic Sierra titles, from back when there were only a few production companies and you had to order your products from a paper catalog or visit Electronics Boutique! Larry was one of the first games I encountered when I got my first PC at the age of 9 (okay, maybe not the most appropriate game for a 9 year old, but it was fun!). It was a copy my dad "borrowed" from a friend at work (sorry about that Al, but I've purchased 4 or 5 copies of the game since then!). Like many Sierra fans, I was crestfallen as I watched Sierra go through several acquisitions which resulted in a hemorrhaging of seasoned Sierra developers and production of cookie-cutter games. Over the years, I held on to my old Sierra floppies and played them straight up until Windows couldn't support them anymore (and my trusty 486 with the 5 1/4" drive finally gave out). DOS emulators did an okay job of starting the games up, but they were mostly unplayable. Once Vivendi started rereleasing the games with DOSBox I started picking these classic games up again. They've done a great job of packaging these games into a playable format for XP and Vista (just make sure you play it in XP compatibility mode). For you Larry fans, check out Al Lowe's web site at [...] where you can read jokes, sign up for his CyberJoke 3000 e-mail list, and learn all about Al's insight on Magna Cum Laude and Box Office Bust. ![]() Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust $19.99 I have been a fan of Leisure Suit Larry for quite sometime, And although the games have always been a little short on quality they were always enjoyable. But Box Office Bust just flat out sucks, The graphics are probably the worst I have seen for a 360 game, and the game play matches the graphics. I would probably have to say this is the most half assed game I have ever purchased. The developers should be embarassed releasing a game in this poor of condition. ![]() Suits $19.99 SUITS is a colorful comedy that covers a war between suits and creatives, as two ad agencies compete for a major account. This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply. ![]() Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude (Prima's Official Strategy Guide) $14.99 I purchased this in order to help me find everything that was in the game, thinking that there were more things that I missed in the game (since I didn't enjoy it that overly much) & to see if there was anything that could help me do better on the mini-games in case that made the experience more enjoyable. Fifteen dollars later, I have to say that the "hints" given really aren't that overly helpful. The guide almost literally quotes the game directions word for word, and don't provide any real help. "Get the smiley faces & avoid belches & beer." Well no duh. I figured that out after 20 seconds of play time. The positives are that there are some full pictures of the characters in the game, as well as little blips of character artwork (hand drawn, not computer). There is also lists of full "secrets" such as where to find tokens & the porn fairy (or whatever Ron Jeremy's supposed to be). The half-naked pictures just weren't enough to keep me interested, and I ended up wishing that I'd just stuck to the free gaming guides on the internet. Since this guide is long since out of print, I don't recommend that someone break their bank trying to get a hold of one. Try looking for previously used copies if you can. (I ended up selling mine.) The ONLY reason this is given 3 stars is because it was nicely laid out, the pictures were well done, & it provided a teensy tiny bit of help. Otherwise it would have rated a 1 star rather than 3. Personally I'd rate it about a 2.5 overall, but Amazon won't let you give half stars. |
