 Live Spice! $9.95 LiveSpice is in my opinion the coolest unoffficial Spice Girls book out there. It is packed with great photos, from the tour and other things, and as you're reading it you can actually feel yourself there in the audience! First they take you to the girls' first-ever show in Istanbul, then to the first night of their SpiceWorld tour in Dublin. All this plus a full setlist of the tour, a discography(w/chart positions), all the European dates, and pages and pages of Spice Girls quotes!! This book is so much fun to read, and is a total must for every SpiceFan. I definitely recommend it!:)  Spice $7.96 Spice is forty minutes and four seconds long and was released in the United States on February 4, 1997. The Spice went 7x Platinum and reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums chart (5 weeks at #1) and #2 on the U.S. Billboard Top Pop Catalog. The CD produced three top ten songs. They are: Wannabe, Say You Be There, and 2 Become 1. This is the Spice Girls debut album. The music is of A minus quality. I just did not think all the songs on it were that great. Still it is nice dance music. Spice gets a B+. Solution: don't buy the DVD. BUT if like me, you are (/were) a fan of the Spice Girls, give Spice World a try (or another try)! I watched this movie in the fifth grade when it first came out and I loved it then. That said, I'm not always sure I knew what I was thinking back then, so I was inclined to think that 12 years later, I'd find the movie ridiculous. My friend with whom I watched this also had the same expectations. But nope, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Spice World was still a great movie. It was ridiculous, but great. Maybe it was the lowered expectations, but really, if you take this movie for what it is - a film about the Spice Girls having fun and making something for their fans - it is very entertaining. Again, it wasn't made for the Academy (though the acting wasn't so bad), it was made for fans. You can sing along to the songs that were their hits in the 90's and laugh at the jokes and implausible scenarios as loudly as you did in 1997. It's a laugh; don't take it too seriously! |
