I have to admit, when I saw the previews for this movie I wasn't interested. People told me it wasn't any good, so I didn't see it. We decided to rent it and was blown away. It was just awesome! Define awesome... well imagine all the cool things you can do in a cartoon, but can't do in real life. Some how this movie has bridged the gap. The computer animation was off the chain, but what made it a good movie was the fact that it had a sense of depth at the heart of it. Something here in America we can't relate to.. That some fat cats out there want to turn everything we love into a cash cow and a lot of time don't mind breaking the law to do it. (economic crisis ring a bell?) Take football, basketball, etc its not about the game anymore its about the money...but even though this is a movie, it calls to those who wish someone could just break up the greed, exploitation, and marketing BS. Bring it back to the love of it all...

My ten year old son bought this with the money he'd saved up. A very big deal. We shopped around the internet before we bought it on Amazon. This was the best deal we found.
This is really a fun toy. Speed Racer rides inside, lifts up at the push of a button, then unloads down a ramp that lifts up from the top of the truck.
My son assigns everyone in the house a particular Hot Wheels truck w/car. He always gets this Speed Racer truck/car. The trucks drive up and upload their cars. The cars race. He always wins. Huh. I know it is durable because it has fallen off the racetrack a few times (the kitchen bar is a part of the race track so it's pretty high.)

My 3YO LOVES Speed Racer and the Mach 5, but this Jada 1:24 diecast model doesn't hold up to play. He's had 2 of these, and the first has only 1 wheel left, after the fins and 3 wheels fell off. The second has its wheels, but is missing fins and side windows. Otherwise, it's weighty and cool...
