5 years after Newman produce this brilliant score, it continues to delight and surprise. It is rich in texture, style and nuance. Newman topped the movie (which was adequate) with a well-rounded, and then some!, musical interpretation. His piece for the animated closing credits combined visuals and music in a way that superceded the live action that preceded it, and no disrespect to the director and cast!

ASOUE is one of the most underrated film scores in the early 21st century and you don't need to have seen the movie to take great pleasure in its variety and effects.

I rarely say this on Amazon because it is so over-used, but this soundtrack really is a must-have.

A Series of Unfortunate Events is the only "series" i will ever read becasue I don't typicially enjoy reading series. I have enjoyed and loved these books since I was a kid. Even though I didn't finish the series yet (I'm on book twelve), I will always love this series and share it with my kids in the future someday. They are quick and easy reads that you simply can't put down because you want to know what is going to happen to the Baudelaire orphans next. I know Lemony Snicket doesn't write poetically, but he does teach his readers many vocabulary words which I find very important. I can't wait to see how the series ends and I know I'll be sad that it will be all over. (Hopefully the ending isn't as bad as I hear it is)

This book was purchased, along with Books 12 and 13 in this series, for my nine-year-old granddaughter. She hasn't read it yet, but has read other books in this series and enjoys them very much.

the books was orderd two weeks prior to Christmas as a Christmas present and arrived in time to give her at Christmas and in very good condition.
