Since the Chinese has already written every plot known to man long before Europeans discovered the country, the fact that this movie is a remake of a classic does not detract from the impact of Slow Burn. Although the lust claim is a far, far cry from Body Heat, greed and betrayal abound.
Minnie Driver's character, Trina, is hunting (at any cost) for her great-grandmother's lost treasure. She is not the only person interested in the diamonds and the deadly history of the stones is delivered through flashbacks.
This film kept my interest, and at no time did I have to look away from the screen in disgust or allow for creative differences in the dialog. The setting reinforces the theme without distracting the viewer. Watching Slow Burn was an enjoyable movie break.

Slow Burn by Heather Graham is an exciting romantic suspense story!!! I enjoyed reading it, couldn't put it down. Spencer's husband has been killed, and she is looking for his killer. Ex-cop and ex-lover David Delgado has been hired to watch over Spencer because someone is threatening her. Spencer and David have feelings for each other that have never died (great backstory on their relationship), but Spencer finds it hard to move on without knowing who killed her husband and allowing him to rest in peace. Truly one of the best contemporary romantic suspense stories that I've read. Lots of characters and possible suspects in this one. 5 stars!

I am not a NASCAR fan but I really enjoy this genre of books. They tend to be PG-13 and with romance and NASCAR mixed together. This story is about abused women who wins a date with NASCAR driver Braden James. He falls for her at first sight and takes on all her problems - a Knight in Shining Armor. It was Ok and this author is excellent writer so that helps with the plot and female character Dana that just didn't like. If you are looking for sweet story with a NASCAR theme I would read it - but if you are looking for more conflict and meaty characters I would skip.

If you like this genre I would suggest; On The Move (Harlequin Nascar) and To The Limit (Nascar Library Collection). She has a new NASCAR Book due out September 2010. She wasn't injured badly, but the hits just kept coming when she was released from the hospital, and found out that her company was in jeopardy due to loans her deceased mother had put in motion. Not only her company was at risk, but also her own name due to the name recognition. The next hit came when her best friend Jordan Buchanan called, and asked her to come because she was having surgery.

Kate dropped everything to be with Jordan, and as it turned out, Jordan was going to be fine. No one in her family knew what was going on, so Kate was surprised when her brother Dylan showed up. He knew about Jordan's condition, and knew Kate needed him, so he gave her his shoulder. What should have been a friendly gesture soon turned to out of control passion. They were agreed that it was just for one night, but he didn't leave her thoughts even when she headed home. Kate hadn't been home more than a few minutes when someone tried to run her down at the airport. When she received a call from a contractor demanding to meet her at the warehouse she was considering renting, she was sitting out front when it exploded.

When Dylan showed up on Kate's doorstep, she was shocked. Dylan was on leave from the Boston police department after being shot, but he was concerned by all the near misses plaguing Kate. He contacted the local PD, and learned these were deemed deliberate attempts. He wouldn't admit to himself why, but he wasn't leaving until he found out who was threatening Kate. They didn't have to wait long to find out what was behind the attempts because Kate found out she had just inherited 80 million from her recently deceased uncle. When Kate is abducted, Dylan is rushing against time to rescue her.

This is my first book by this author, and I really enjoyed it. Dylan and Kate are priceless together, and the years of friendship/torment really added to their dynamics. Well-written characters, and an interesting suspenseful story made this a good read.
