ASIN B001PCJFXK - Shooter probably suffers a bit for being the son of one of Country's best known "outlaws". When your father's one of those guys that other performers from the genre's top tier mention in their songs - with some frequency - it's probably easier to become a construction worker than it is to go anywhere near his footsteps. That Shooter did follow his father has to, it seems to me, indicate that this is just him following his passion. That's a great thing... and I like Shooter's music, in general... but "Best Of"? That album name is usually appropriate to a long career, something Shooter just hasn't had yet.

That aside, Shooter's music has always made me think of what you'd get if you put "Willie and Waylon and the boys" in the same studio as Lynyrd Skynyrd and let 'em do their thing. If that doesn't sound appealing to you, none of Shooter's work is likely to be your thing. But, if it does sound appealing, and you haven't yet met the man, this is a great way to introduce yourself.

I have no clue how people, who say they like country dislike this. This is a country album in the tradition of waylon and hank Jr. You can go on and on about blood lines. Both him and hank III are country royalty, but it has nothing to do with it. Shooter is good old have fun country and this album is a 5 star testament to it.
