I loved this movie in High School and I still love it today. On Blu-ray absolutely everything looks great. And of course it is always fun to see Sarah Michelle Gellar and Joshua Jackson (that's right, he is in this!) out of their usual roles. Love it!

Although an excellent cast and mostly well done, most the male characters were either rude or crude. For example the father of Joanna was not warmly greeted by Joanna on her return and when he brought up the fact she was mutilating herself she accused him of not being aware she was calling for help as if he was supposed to had a degree in psychology while when everyone else asked her why she mutilated herself she claimed she didn't know. The ending falls apart. She swerves to miss the truck of the murderer and ends up in the creek, comes to and runs into the woods chased by the murderer. How she ended up in the Terry's truck after he kicked her out of his house is not explained and the murderer gets away.

I bought the Sarah Michelle Gellar Collection for my daughter. She LOVES it. But then she LOVES anything with Sarah Michelle Gellar in it. The movies are cute and good teenage fare as teenage movies go. I like the nonviolence better, the romantic comedy was sweet. It provided a totally different side of Sarah Michelle Gellar than I've ever seen. I have to admit, beyond Buffy and I Saw What You Did Last Summer I'm not exactly a Gellarphile. If you have a teen who's a fan, this collection will have you on the A list for at least a little while!

I loved the book and the screenplay did not disappoint, but was deeply disappointed by the casting of Ms. Gellar, who did her best but just could not pull off this character, who is more Carrie Bradshaw than Buffy. To begin with, they dressed her in clothes a la Nancy Botwin in Weeds which are worn by women who look sensual in them (as does Mary Louise Parker), while SMG just looks like a 30 year-old dressing like a 50 year-old (who claims to be only 22 years old!) Then, she is just not convincing as someone who reads all day and fights for authors. The overall effect of the sets, costumes and locations paired to this script and Buffy WAS creepy, as so many other reviewers said. I just hope Melissa Banks made some money off of it, it certainly wasn't her fault.
