Mark Ronson is talented beyond his years and this album shows that he is more than someone who can tip a hat to the 60s. He has assembled a high-talent roster, but even if he didn't coax great, apt performances from Lily Allen, Santo Gold, Robbie Williams and the Daptone Horns (among others), he still would be dishing up hot, catchy tracks that transcend pop appeal. He knows how to masterfully manipulate the music and get vital sounds from his musicians. This is a great album!

Oh, and if you like what he did with "Toxic" check out a different but equally cool version on the Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra effort on "Hits the Hits" which is also a unique take on pop songs.

The "Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen" movie soundtrack is basically an all pop album, and the artists performing the songs are the latest soloists and groups around! If you're throwing a party, or just want something cool to listen to, THIS IS THE ALBUM TO BUY!

I'm a huge fan of The Donnas so when I heard their rendition of Billy Idol's hit from the 80's "Dancing With Myself" I knew I had to have this soundtrack. I'm also in love with three other tracks from this soundtrack, the Samantha Ronson track "Built This Way", The song that plays in the beggining of the movie when Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron) arrives as a new student on her first day of school after she moved from Africa. The song is called "Rip Her To Shreds" by BOOMKAT (Who would have thought?). I was even more excited after getting the soundtrack home and noticing that "The Mathlete Rap" by Rajiv Surenda is actually here on this soundtrack! "Isn't it the MOST, To say the LEAST?". Oh! and who could ever forget the hot holloween party track by PEACHES called "Operate" (Wasn't That Song Hot?). You even get 2 of 2004's biggest radio hits P!NK's "God Is A DJ" & "Milkshake" by Kelis. Everytime I hear those two songs I think of some of the best scenes, "Milkshake" when they pull up to Regina's palace and her sister is gettin' down to the music video, And "God Is A DJ" while they're all getting ready for prom and Karen puts her rhinestones on backwards (Dingy...lol). Oh yeah! and we can't forget about Regina's backbrace in that scene. Not only do you get a great soundtrack but you also get to play a collection of songs that bring back so many visuals of the funny and crazy scenes from the movie. The only darwback of owning the soundtrack is that "Jingle-bell rock" is not included in this set, If you're familiar with the original version of Jingle-Bell rock by Brenda Lee you're aware that the one in the movie is not the same, I'm thinking they probably couldn't get rights to the Brenda Lee version so they mimiced it, It wouldv'e been cool to have that version with the small 30 second intro of Gretchen & Regina's dispute before the show. Also if you don't own the DVD do yourself a favor and treat yourself, get the movie along with this soundtrack you'll love them both.
