![]() So Great Salvation: What It Means to Believe in Jesus Christ $12.99 This book does a better job than other works addressing the opposition view to John MacArthur's work but the argumentation is weak and still does not provide a sound answer to John MAcArthur's work "Gospel According to Jesus" ![]() Salvation (Understanding Biblical Themes) $18.99 Joel Green begins with a quote from an 18th-century Anglican priest, John Wesley (of Methodist acclaim), and identifies problems encountered by a 21st-century reading of "salvation." Green contends that "threats of hellfire and damnation..." (preface, 2) cloud views of salvation when imposed upon collective consciousness. Green employs Wesley's introductory quote to stake a position that such clouded views of salvation are mere caricatures. Green argues that salvation has become distorted by such images, and favors, instead, salvation as a "journey" in order to focus on "...the biblical message." Green advocates the image of the journey to distinguish stale images of belief, such as I have ascribed to one political theology or cinematic sentimentalism in the title for this review. Unlike belief, faith inducts one into a journey of salvation. Green's appeal to faith will attract a broad Christian audience. Therefore, faith introduces the very Author of scriptures to the daily journey. Said another way, John Newton's hymn, "Amazing Grace," might be re-written by Green to say "...that sav-ed wretches like us," because salvation is not just an individual's aim in his view, but the ongoing process of Christian community and of the entire creation. If salvation were a "goal" in Green's view, then salvation might neither emphasize what God has done in sacred history nor the final prophetic outcome. Rather, emphasis in Green's text is on what Christians are doing today to become Christ-like. Such emphasis on the daily journey makes this text a scriptural tapestry that is not easy to characterize. So, too, the scriptures themselves resist caricatures. ![]() Terminator Salvation (Full-Screen Edition) $28.98 I have been waiting for a 4th Terminator film for six years, and I'm glad I finally got it! It had a great storyline, great actors, great special effects, and a great direction! In the year 2003, Marcus Wright is on death row and sign his body over to Skynet for medical research. 15 years later, John Connor is the leader of the Resistance against the machines. He finds out that he is on Skynet's hit list along with his father, Kyle Reese, who is a teenager. Marcus is back and meets Kyle and Star. They try to get to John Connor, but Kyle and Star are captured by a machine and taken prisoner. Marcus reaches John and his crew to tell him about Kyle. We soon find out that Marcus is a terminator who thinks he is human. Marcus helps John by going into the heart of Skynet's headquarters and disable its defenses so John can save Kyle Reese and the other prisoners. They must battle some tough Terminators in order to make it out alive. I highly recommend TERMINATOR SALVATION!!! ![]() Terminator Salvation: The Machinima Series $12.98 Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, was released in 2001. When I watched that video game movie, I could not believe how realistic it was. There is no salvation for T4 or this game. They are both mundane & trite. They took no time to doctor up this movie. The chapters are short. The video is grainy & flawed, just like a video game, only not as engaging. You would have to be a machine to enjoy this movie. :( FF is still on my shelf. Salvation is going bye bye ... |
