![]() Dingoo A320 2.8" LCD GBA/ NGO/ SNES/ NES/ SFC/ CPS1/ 2/ + Emulator Game Console (4GB Built-in + Mini-SD) $149.99 Chances are, if you're looking at this then you're somewhat aware of the Dingoo's capabilities and ability to emulate other consoles. It does a fairly good job with all the built-in emulators, and the scene around it has made Dingux (Linux for the Dingoo) work well enough to port other emulators. Everything works well, but hardware limitations prevent it from being able to do the more "beefy" emulation like PSX, some MAME, and N64, and it's unlikely to ever do those well. 16-bit or lower is the target for this console. Size-wize, it's like the GameBoy Micro, and it feels pretty good. It's very portable and handy to have around for gaming on the go. I can't complain about the build quality or size of it, even though it is a Chinese knock-off device. It's decent quality for what you pay. And that's where the real issue stands. You can find this item for about eighty or ninety US simoleons in most places if you do a little shopping. Paying more is ridiculous, because it's just not worth more than one-hundred bills-- Not when you can pick up a GP2X Wiz which has more powerful hardware (so it can handle MAME, PSX and other console emulation) and a touch screen for about one-hundred seventy clams. Quite honestly, anything over one hundred for the Dingoo is a total rip-off, and you'd be a complete idiot to spend almost twice as much for the same item... So, Buyer Beware! However, I'm not going to express my opinion of the kind of people who would mark-up an item by about 45% over the MSRP in hopes of snagging a few suckers; I'm here to comment on the device itself, and my final verdict is that if you want some "homebrew" gaming on a budget, the Dingoo's got a great community and a lot of support. If you want a little more power, you can move up to the GP2X Wiz, or wait for the Pandora to see the light of day. Either way, you'll have some classic gaming goodness. |
