I bought this for my boyfriend who has a philips tv flat screen. he wanted a surround sound system, but honestly our setup doesnt lend to set up speakers all through the house and they look horrible in a house.

after reading reviews i decided to go for it. It was a good thing i did~ the sound bar works very well with the tv, and since they are both Philips i think that also lends to improvement in sound quality. our living room and dining room are connected and open. small for both rooms i guess. we live in a townhouse.

the set up feature is easy and i do recommend measuring the height from the floor up to the soundbar. we though we were at the "default" setting, but actually it is the "low" setting after we measured the height. our tv sits more to the right of the room since we were accounting for both rooms since they are OPEN.

when you turn it on, you can DEFINETLY tell the difference. stereo sound is amazing, the subwoofer is wonderful and does have a deep base sound. the surround sound feature is good. for our room set up, i could hear sound coming from behind me on a few occassions when we were watching movies or our tv programs.

yes sound does bounce off of walls, so it can create a surround sound feature. as good as a regular surround sound with speakers directly behind you, No. but you will hear it if your room type is correct for the sound bar.

it is a big big difference and i do not think you will be disappointed. My boyfriend loves it, loves that it goes with his tv, and also the design is sleek and easy to operate. we can also use the remote. just one remote since they are both philips. but i dont keep the sound bar on all the time and neither does he.

for the price of this now, and the benefits and improvement from a regular tv sound, you will love it. if you are looking for 100 percent true behind your ears, heart throbbing surround sound, then No. but for a drastic improvement in sound, and sound bounce as i call it, with bass, options, ease of use and fun, you should get it!

also i like the fact it has a radio that automatically sets it self on setup and you have the dvd player with the upconverter which goes well with our tv since it is a 1080p.

try it out and with amazon you know you can return it if the your room type doesnt work out, but it is a great system to upgrade your sound alot, and have a sleek nice, modern design that doesnt intrude on your living space! which is crucial now a days with kids, pets and your furniture!
