![]() The 2006 Rose Bowl National Championship $19.95 Bought this as a surprise gift for my husband. He was totally thrilled and never even mentioned the quality. He is thrilled to have a copy of this Longhorn history to enjoy. When the Horns aren't in the championship game, he just puts in this DVD and pretends they're winning all over again! Also bought him the Live the Dream season highlights, but the game disc was much better. Don't remember him ever getting out the highlights DVD again after the first time, but we see the game, or at least the last quarter, at least once a year. ![]() Royal Albert Old Country Roses 4-1/2-ounce Fruit Bowls, Set of 4 $172.00 Royal Albert's Old Country Roses is one of the most popular bone china patterns ever produced. A design classic, with a lavish 22-carat gold border is adorned by English roses; Old Country Roses has an enduring appeal for those with a passion for florals and a taste for nostalgia and vintage-chic. Over 150 million pieces of Old Country roses have been sold worldwide since its introduction in 1962. ![]() The 2009 Rose Bowl Game $19.95 I was perplexed by one reviewers complaint. Obviously two teams participated in this and every other bowl game that has been released on DVD. Would anymore fans from the defeated team buy the DVD merely because it included the schools logo on the front cover? Ahhh No. If so, here's a simple solution; remove the DVD jacket. Would it be worth it for more than a handful of fans to have a special feature "Road to the ????? Bowl" for the team that lost? It would be an extra expense to the 90+ percent of the purchasers that probably wanted to see more special features of their school instead of the other. As for as the ABC/ESPN is concerned they are marketing it to the audience that will be the overwhelming purchasers; the victorious. They know that the losing team's fanbase purchase of the DVD will be microscopic. I'm not going to whine about the 2006 Rose Bowl having nothing but Texas on it because THEY WON. They deserved the attention. ![]() Rose Bowl Story [VHS] $9.98 William Beaudine's THE ROSE BOWL STORY (from MONOGRAM pictures) is a bit of 'B' grade froth best remembered these days for a maturing Natalie Wood. By the year of its release, Wood already had 17 juvenile big screen roles to her credit. Jim Backus as Natalie's dad seems here to be warming up for his appearance in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE (1955) with James Dean and... Natalie Wood! (Watch for sportscasters Tom Harmon and Bill Welsh.) The picture's shot in "Cinecolor." This odd two-strip process reproduced all colors well except greens and purples. SYNOPSIS-- Steve Davis (Thompson), a midwestern college quarterback is scheduled to play in the Rose Bowl game in Pasadena, California. While meeting the reception committee, Steve focuses his attentions on one of the Rose princesses, Denny Burke (Miles). Steve visits with Denny's family when he goes to her home after younger sister Sally (Wood) keeps the phone tied up for hours. Denny quickly loses interest in Steve once she learns he doesn't really care about football. Fretting over her aloofness causes Steve to play poorly in practice, and the team's coach James Hadley (Rober) is preoccupied over his wife Mary's (Woodell) illness, so the boys are on their own for the big game. As of 1/09, "Rose Bowl Story" was not available on DVD. Also recommended: Marshall Thompson (best remembered as star of TV's "Daktari" in the 1960s) was quite good in Audie Murphy's TO HELL AND BACK (1955).
