If you like biting satire and comedy more subtle than setup-punchline-setup-punchline, this is the show for you. Great characters and all sorts of backstabbing make this show a classic. Too bad only the first season has made it to DVD. WAKE UP CANWEST AND RELEASE THE OTHER SEASONS ALREADY!! A+ for show content. D- for DVD production value and extras (basically none).  The Relic $9.98 Many years ago I read the book, THE RELIC by Preston / Child. I was impressed. Then, I happened to read an article in FANGORIA about a coming movie-version. I was excited! I waited until it came out, watched it, and hated it. Why? Because it was nothing like the book! Plus, the monster was nowhere near as hideous as I had imagined it to be! Well, I just re-watched THE RELIC last night and have discovered something. This is a fantastic monster movie! Time has healed my wounds and dulled my memory enough to simply sit back and enjoy the story. I approached it as though I'd never seen it before, allowing my mind to take it in without preconceived judgements. Presto! I loved it! Sure, it's got that ALIEN / MIMIC thing going on, but hey, it's still a wonderful monster flick w/ a true juggernaut of death for a monster! Definitely worth owning... P.S.- Watch for James Whitmore (THEM!) as a scientist, and Audra Lindley (TV's Three's Company) as the coroner! Great stuff... |
