The Essential REO Speedwagon
The Essential REO Speedwagon

$15.93
A perfect collection to get familar with this stadium rock/AOR group! The first disc showcases the band's more hard rock material while the second disc consist mostly of their catchy ballads. Singer Kevin Cronin has a cool distinctive voice and guitarist Gary Richrath never disappoints! The selection includes songs from the self-titled 1971 debut up to the 1996 recording "Building The Brigde" and a song from a 1999 compilation called "Just For You".

Some favorite songs of mine from CD 1 are "Golden Country", "Music Man", "Riding The Storm Out", "Son Of A Poor Man" and "Keep Pushing". Also in the first disk are two underrated ballads that are not played on radio: "Lightning" and "Time For Me To Fly".
On the second disk you can find the more well known ballads like "Can't Fight This Feeling", "Take It On The Run", "Keep On Loving You", and "One Lonely Night" but some of the lesser known compositions are as good if not better than the radio hits like for example "In My Dreams". Also there are a few excellent rockers and some more up-tempo pop songs on CD 2 like "Back On The Road Again", "Only The Strong Survive", "The Key", "Live Every Moment", and "In Your Letter".

If you like melodic hard rock/pop with plenty of ballads, then you should enjoy this!
Thanks for taking the time to read!

I have been looking for this C.D. for years and finally got it new from Amazon last month. I've been playing it ever since. I've been a HUGE fan of REO forever and " Good Trouble" is one of my favorites.I don't understand why it was considered a failure when it made the top-ten on the album chart, sold a couple of million or more copies and had the top-ten hit "Keep The Fire Burnin'." I don't think the band or the fans should have been disapointed!! The songs are extremely catchy and classic REO.I LOVE "Back In My Heart Again" It stayed in my head all day and I think it should have been a single."Sweet Time" is one of my favorite REO ballads and I love the bells on it. The album has great pics of the band as well.I wish REO would go back to this, namely with Gary Richrath, for at least one more album since Gary's great guitar work was such a big part of it all. I'm sooo happy I finally got this C.D.!!!!!

An outstanding album, and "Roll With The Changes" to this day remains REO's closing song. If "Keep On Loving You" and "Riding The Storm Out" are your only experience to REO, you are missing an "essential" album.

So REO broke out with a Christmas CD? I was skeptical at first. Being a fan of early REO and not so much of the 80's REO, I wasn't sure what to expect. I took a chance and am I glad I did.REO has taken a handful of Chritmas tunes and rocks them. Any fan of REO will enjoy this collection of songs. The best part is the whole family will enjoy them. They rock out the songs but not to the point where anyone would think it's to much or not recognize them. This is a CD I recommend for the whole family to listen to while you decorate the tree. Merry Christmas.
