![]() The Italian Renaissance $16.00 Plumb's work is very readable and paints an overview of the Italian Renaissance with a broad brush. It is, however, 47 years old (published 1961). There's been an enormous amount of scholarship in those 47 years, and Plumb is showing his age, in his adulatory tone and his dismissive insults about the European Middle Ages. ![]() Child Gold & Black Renaissance Gown Costume - NOCOLOR - Large $49.99 This Child Gold & Black Renaissance Gown Costume includes: a beautiful regal styled gown with black and gold abundant fabrics with an exaggerated collar, long sleeves and an elegant waistline including shades of gold woven accents. If that's been holding you back from buying this remastered edition don't worry, the answer is yes. As for the content, people have differing opinions. I happen to think it is one of their best. Listen to it and decide for yourself. The only bone i have to pick with this reissue is that the original ABC/Sire artwork was used instead of the WB/Sire artwork. I think the original artwork was rather ugly, but that's just my opinion. What really counts is the music, right? ![]() Live at Carnegie Hall/ The Deluxe Anniversary Edition (2 CD) (Original Recording Remastered) $21.99 Renaissance was one of my favorite bands of the mid and late 70s. This album, recorded with the New York Philharmonic captured them at the artistic peak of their career and contains much of their best material. Best known as one of the earlier progressive rock bands to combine elements of classical and rock. While bands like Yes and Emerson, Lake & Palmer did the same and leaned more towards the rock side, Renaissance tended to lean more toward the classical side. The highlight of the band was the amazing beautiful voice of Annie Haslam. It has been said that her vocal range covered 5 octaves. Their style of music worked very well with an orchestra, I was lucky to see them perform twice with the Rochester Philharmonic in the late 70s. Their live shows were phenomenal and this recording captures them at their best. The remastered CD is a real treat, and the quality is quite good. It was nice to finally have the CD since my original album from 1976 is showing it's age. One of my favorite albums from one of my favorite bands. |
