Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Administration Unleashed
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Administration Unleashed

I bought this book as a desktop reference, but so far have been greatly disappointed. Every section I have read has been missing critical information, and the examples are so bare-bones as to be almost useless. You can follow the instructions to the letter, but you'll still find yourself scouring the internet for the missing information. The worst section I have come across is the NFS setup, which dedicates TWO pages to configuring NFS via command line and is missing all the pre-configuration necessary to make it work. Might be an okay book if you're already well-versed in RHEL, but if you're expecting comprehensive info, go elsewhere.

This is a fabulous cookbook that's both doable and comprehensive. The little story inserts and notations about recipes is very appealing. But the very best thing about this huge assortment of recipes is that they are great recipes that are not the same old recipes you see in every other cookbook out there and are ones anyone could use any week or for any special occasion. And it's a steal at the price Amazon is selling it for. As a matter of fact, I've order additional copies for gift giving. Anyone at any age will soon find this on their list of favorite books to cook byThe Red Hat Society Cookbook!

I've been away from Linux for a few years support Mac recording systems, but now back supporting all platforms. I wanted to something to get back up to speed with and most books are too entry level. This book covers all areas of RH Linux from a SysAdmin POV, the essential info for day to day SA work. The command reference is real handy the way it's grouped by category. This book will definitely be one I will keep handy and even has me thinking about taking the cert' test. Highly recommended.

I think everyone should be required to take & pass the RHCE 'if' you would in a
Enterprise environment or in a smaller company. Understanding the fundamentals of
an Operating System to the complexity of services that can survive the public
Internet or Internal network is key to success.

I learned a lot from digging in and I know when I set up servers for work they
are correct and done by the book, not by some search off the Internet or by some
forum where people do things by the seat of the pants...

This to me was an awesome achievement and milestone, I knew after going through
all of the self-sacrifice it allowed me to except new challenges.
