![]() Send Me an Angel: '80s Synth Essentials $16.98 I must say I am big fan of Real Life. They were are one those under appreciated bands from the 80's. One of great things about the band from down-under is that they are still alive and kicking. They have continued to put out music over the years. The bands line-up has changed over the years, however David has always been the main vocal point of the band. Most of their material is out of print with the exception a couple of their albums. It's a shame. They have some great material. On to the review. This is a cover album of all 80's tunes. Not sure if David choose these or Cleopatra Records, they did the same with Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons fame. Though most of the songs don't stray to far from the originals. David and Company have slightly altered some, putting there own touch on the songs. Some work great and fit perfectly with David's unusual vocals. Some of the tracks that I think work well; Sweet Dreams, Cars, Fade to Grey and Blue Monday. The other tracks in my opinion are misses. All in all a decent effort. I felt is was unnecessary to include 3 mixes of Send Me and Angel. One would have been fine. But you know how the old saying goes. There is always that one song that will seal the fate of the band and they will be forever imprisoned by greedy records companies to forever sing those songs. Check out the album!!! If you are an 80's fan this will fit nicely in your collection. Just waiting for that next album of original material. Loved the last imperfection. ![]() Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling $16.99 When I first heard about this book, I wanted to read it. Bret Hart has long been one of my favorite wrestlers and last yar I came across this book and it did not disappoint me. When I grew up I became a wrestling fan. In the 1980's the WWF seemed to go with ever bigger and more muscular wrestlers. And in retrospect, many couldn't wrestle worth a lick. Bret hart seemed to havi his stuff together as a wrestler and brings this in his writing as well. He talks about his entire career and is honest. About everything, his family, juicing, his cheating, the partying that takes place in wrestling, about the careers being ended too soon. All in all it gave me a good view of the world I wanted to join once grown up. In retrospect I am glad I never became a wrestler. ![]() Big Man: Real Life & Tall Tales $26.99 This book by Clarence is nice to read. It gives an insight in the Man and his life with and without THE band. If you want to sit back and read some not difficult book, this one is good for that ![]() Send Me An Angel '89 (Edit) $0.99 This is an updated version of the original Real Life tune from 1983. People who enjoyed some of the dance-pop of the late 1980s, such as the updated version of Jigsaw's "Sky High" and Erasure's "A Little Respect" could also find this one appealing. |
