![]() Everyone Comes to Elaine's: Forty Years of Movie Stars, All-Stars, Literary Lions, Financial Scions, Top Cops, Politicians, and Power Brokers at the Legendary Hot Spot $26.95 I was very happy with this book and will probably buy from this source again. ![]() Supermob: How Sidney Korshak and His Criminal Associates Became America's Hidden Power Brokers $17.95 I've read Russo's previous work "the outfit" and in the "Supermob" he repeats a lot of the same concerning Factor and humphreys. The book could have been better edited because it contains to much detail, sometimes not related to any Korshak interference. The character outset of the book and conspiracy tendencies leans towards anti-semitism, but perhaps not intentionally. His scoop mentioning the october 1965 'Palm Springs Apalaching'contains a factual error. Russo states: "mob bosses from around the country, including ('.),longy Zwillman". As far as i know Abner 'Longy' Zwillman died in februari 1959. ![]() Shadow Elite: How the Worlds New Power Brokers Undermine Democracy, Government, and the Free Market $27.50 Many people today feel that they¡Çre swimming in a sea of corruption. Who is really in charge? Why do the same people reappear under various professional identities, pressing a suspect agenda in one influential venue after another? According to award-winning public policy expert Janine Wedel, these are the ¡Èshadow elite,¡É and they are both powerful and dangerous. In Shadow Elite, Wedel teaches us to recognize and understand how this new group blurs and erases the boundaries between government, private, and nonprofit organizations?all to their own benefit. The shadow elite ultimately answer only to each other. They can be found lurking behind the scenes of Iran-Contra, Blackwater, and the scandal of Harvard economists in post-Soviet Russia?and they are steadily gaining power. Profoundly original, Shadow Elite gives us the tools that we need to fight this disturbing, destructive, and antidemocratic trend. ![]() The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York $25.00 I got the soft cover book and took me almost a year to finish reading it Highly recommend if you are interested in power and how Robert Moses wielded it to shape NYC, when you go there you will get a better appreciation for NYC I gave it to a friend who went to NYC to work; I thought highly of the book so I gave it to him to also gain from it I liked it so much and plan to read it again in my lifetime that I bought this hardcover version on Amazon, I recommend the hardcover over the soft cover since the hardcover has more maps in it |
