![]() Brilliant Madness: Living with Manic Depressive Illness $7.99 For those who want a greater understanding of bi-polar and to be able to relate to someone who also suffers with this disorder this is a fantastic book. You will really get into this book. It is written so well that it is an easy read. Not only does it offer the perspective of the sufferer (Patty Duke) it also gives you the medical point of view and knowledge in easy to understand language. I highly reccommend this book to those having bi-polar disorder. Is a great book to read if someone you are close to suffers from this mental illness because you will certainly gain new insight as well as a better understanding. ![]() Grave Secrets $7.98 The best part of Grave Secrets aside from the fact that it was based on a true story is Patty Duke who always gives us wonderful performances. This is also called The Legacy of Hilltop Drive. You can probably find more information on the internet about what happened to Ben and Jean Williams and the rest of their family. The home they moved into was built on an old cemetary called The Black Hope and supposedly the deceased began to haunt the residents in the neighborhood in strange ways. Toilets would flush on their own, the garage door opened and closed by itself, it was chilly a lot of the time, there were unexplained shadows on the wall, etc. The Williams tried to take legal action againgst the developers but with no luck. They eventually moved out after a family tragedy. If you enjoy the occasional TV-movie, this is a good one. Don't expect fancy special effects or high production values like you would in big Hollywood films. But this is still a good movie to watch on a Sunday afternoon. Some other ghost movies you may enjoy with better budgets are Burnt Offerings, The Changeling or The Others with Nicole Kidman. ![]() The Best of Patty Duke: Just Patty $11.98 I am an ardent Patty Duke fan. She has and always will be one of my favorite actresses. I LOVE The Miracle Worker and The Patty Duke Show is my favorite TV show of ALL time. Patty Duke had a very short singing career, and many say that she can't sing worth a crap. Patty Duke actually said so herself! However, I listened to this CD after purchasing it and immediately loved it! Sure Patty had loud backup singers to "hide" her voice in some parts, but as an all around she was a very talented vocalist! What made her singing voice so special was the fact that she would "act" with it. You actually feel the heartache and happiness she's feeling in the song! Patty had a very memorable and cute teen voice, and it will leave you with a very fond feeling of her when the CD's over. If you're a Patty Duke Show fan you will like this CD because it contains not one, but THREE versions of The Patty Duke Show theme song! It has the first/second and third theme versions on the CD and even a sing-along version of third season theme! Cool huh! The CD also contains immensely catchy love songs that have the essential teen-of-the-60's sound in them. Not a single song on this CD is a dud. Take my word for it! This CD is also not distributed anymore so it's highly collectable! I'll wrap this up by saying that if your interested in this CD you'll not be disapointed by it. Especially if your Patty Duke fan or a fan of hard to find 60's music. Also, to all those that listened to these songs growing up will LOVE their wonderful clean sound without the pops and scratches of a record. ENJOY! ![]() Family of Strangers $6.99 I watched this movie years ago on film when I was younger and I found this movie to be very emotional based on a true story. I will always know Melissa Gilbert as Laura Ingalls but she does play great roles in movies like this one. It is a story of one woman's journey to finding her birth mother after she learns she is seriously ill and that she was adopted at birth. When she does find her birth mother played by Patty Duke she learns that she was given up for adoption because she was the product of rape. Her birth mother never knew who raped her that dark night long ago but she had kept a green button ripped from her attacker's jacket. In the end it reveals who the father of Melissa Glibert's character and it is a surprise. Very emotional but worth watching. |
