![]() Lady in Waiting $7.99 I have loved this band & this record for 30-odd - very odd years. I have played their songs in bar bands & shamelessly stolen their licks on record - most notably inserting them into the electro pop of St Vytus. I have met them through various stageds of their career, in Detroit, LA & Vegas & they are all truly charming Southern Gents. Although Huey & Billy are greatly missed, Henry and Monte continue to wave the flag with a great bunch of new players, & I hope they record some new stuff soon. ![]() Outlaws!: Adventures of Pirates, Scoundrels, and Other Rebels $45.00 Whether a pirate, a gunslinger, a gangster, or a desert fiend, you aren”Ēt born an outlaw?you become one. These rebels rose up against injustice; they yearned for great open spaces. From the monopoly of the maritime powers to the advent of industrialism, they defied everything, and in doing so they signed their own death warrants. From train robbers Jesse James and Bruce Reynolds, to Lawrence of Arabia and IRA-activist Bobby Sands, to duos like Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?their armed exploits are wellknown, but their true cause has often gone unheard. Unable to tolerate arbitrary justice, brazen profiteering, or the oppression of the poor, these exceptional men and women rebelled and became feared outlaws. First seen as nothing but dreaded bandits, today they provoke the rapt fascination of all who secretly harbor a thirst for rebellion. ![]() Encyclopedia Of Western Lawmen and Outlaws $49.95 I bought this book because the reviews were very good. Unfortunately, if you have other books to cross-reference it with, it comes up short. When it comes to the amount of information in this book, there is no comparison. However, every single thing you read must be taken with a grain of salt, because there are so many errors. It's hard to know what to believe and what to accept as simply incorrect, if you have no further source of information. There were MANY obvious errors, involving a number of the more famous people in the book, that could be discovered by simply reading another book on the same subject. Even a picture of a famous Wild Bunch member's lover is labeled as the wrong person. Another aspect of the book I found very disturbing, is Nash's consistent habit of stating pure speculation, as adamant fact. Nash has the ability to make you believe that what you are reading is the only possiblity, unless you know that the facts are otherwise. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is interested in FACTS only. Too many "facts" were either wrong or fabricated. If you are interested in learning the basics about A LOT of people, and are willing to accept that things may not be as stated, then this book is fine. If you are a serious researcher of western history, I would recommend looking elsewhere. ![]() Green Grass & High Tides (Digitally Remastered: 1996) $1.29 I was introduced to this from Rock Band, and pretending to play it really made me want to keep listening to it. Yeah, it's mostly just guitars, but it's guitars that rock in the way only the best early 70s rock really can - it really makes you feel alive. |
