![]() Online Dating for Dummies $16.99 As a Dating and Relationship expert and coach, I make a point of reading a lot, and I mean a lot of dating and relationship books. "Online Dating for Dummies," is really good. It's another great rock solid book from the fantastis "For Dummies" series of books from Wiley. Singles who are super sophisticated from certain metro areas like Seattle, LA, New York, and San Francisco might turn up their noses at the section which talks about what kind of computer needs you will have. However, when leading a Seminar in Las Vegas with daters who are less technologically savvy than the tech elite, indeed, some don't even have a computer at home. What I so appreciate in the "For Dummies" series is how thorough they are about covering at topic and indeed addressing it as "A Reference for the Rest of Us!" What is so unique and marvelous about OLD4D is that the co-authors are a now-married couple who, yes, met each other via internet dating. Now, yes, the book came out in 2003. And certain tips and tactics of online dating seem to change every 6-18 months. So will every single word of this book still pertain to internet dating now? No. Is this still an excellent book with page upon page of useful and relevant information pertinent for current online dating? YES! Throughout the book, Silverstein and Lasky provide their female perspective and male perspective on, everything, and I mean everything including a full (tastefully addressed, still retaining a PG13 rating)chapter devoted to Sex. Their providing their Female/Male personal perspectives is part of what makes OLD4D unique and engaging. OLD4D is chock full of step-by-step instructions about going online, remaining safe, and pursuing internet love that it is completely worth your time and money and get a copy, read it, and implement it. ![]() I Can't Believe I'm Buying This Book: A Commonsense Guide to Successful Internet Dating $14.95 ... which makes it hard for me to rate this one more than an average 3-star. The problem is all books about online dating offer the same advice. When internet dating was new 10 years ago, a book such as this would have been helpful! If you are a newbie to internet dating, I recommend this book! However, if you have been dating online for a year or two, it seems the advice offered in the book are basic common sense suggestions - be honest, post a good photo, write a good positive profile! ![]() The Boomer's Guide to Online Dating $16.95 The title understates the scope of this book. It is a comprehensive relationship guide for Baby Boomer women who want to find a husband over the internet. Judsen Culbreth was successful in finding her husband this way and her stories throughout the book remind us of her success. There is much useful information on internet dating. But first there are a series of questionnaires to determine if you are "relationship-ready." Her chapter comparing the features of various online services is very helpful. Her guidance for developing a profile, carrying on e-mail correspondence, and safety tips are very good. She even has a chapter on "chemistry and sex" which is geared to the needs of peri-menopausal women. The final chapter recommends a schedule for a year of dating before sealing the relationship with marriage. A great deal of this information is useful to men, but the audience is clearly intended to be women. For general relationship guidance along with a lot of information about online dating, this book is a good choice for Baby Boomer women. Gordon Scott Edwards, author of Internet Safari, Finding Love Online At 65 ![]() He Typed. She Typed. $16.95 This book adds humor and warmth to the nightmare that is dating. Once you get into it-you can't put it down. |
