![]() Children of Nuggets: Original ARtyfacts from the Second Psychedelic Era - 1976-1996 $64.98 If you turned on a college radio station during the 1980's or early 90's this is essential listening. From stalwarts the Church and the Smithereens to lesser-known acts such as The Stems and the Barracudas, there's a little something for everyone. A little Rickenbacker jangle here, a little Farfisa lick there- the sound runs the gamut of what we would lovingly call "College Rock". You know, before Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins trademarked "Alt Rock" for an MTV audience spoon fed on grunge and The Real World. Those of us who survived the onslaught were left out in the cold with our vinyl collections clutched in shivering hands wondering whatever happened to Jeff Connolly . ![]() Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968 $59.98 Mono is exactly what I want from these relics. I had many of these singles during the day and enjoyed most of them either from my transistor or VW Van radio, when I wasn't playing them on my Sears, Roebuck & Co. record player. Rhino couldn't have done better for my ears. For example, I A/B'd Paul Revere & the Raider's stereo version of Steppin' Out from their Sony Collection to Rhino's mono remastering genius. No comparison. Rhino certainly realized it could have remastered in stereo, but opted for the 'black and white' editions over their 'colorized' counterparts, so to speak. When Rhino went through the remastering process to deliver these goods to us Nuggetheads, they, no doubt, considered everything. I mean, the detail of the packaging booklet, alone, speaks for itself and is a clear indication of just how detail oriented Rhino actually is. Consequently, "original artyfacts" (artifacts) is precisely what's been released - a batch of objet d'art. Rhino knew exactly what it was doing with these gems when buying the licensing rights. Rhino does not cut corners! These versions bring back some real groovy ear candy for me, and the packaging is far out, man...right down to the hip replica CD labels Rhino cleverly copped as a tribute, not a rip-off! It's totally hip. As always, Rhino comes through again! ![]() Love Is the Song We Sing: San Francisco Nuggets 1965-1970 $64.98 Great book of photos of the era, along with the information on who was who and all the local bands, CDs are included and are very nice too. ![]() Fashion Nugget $8.99 Solid album.
