The white frosting on the outside is great since it makes the 2 bright LED's disburse light evenly and isn't harsh on your eyes in the dark. Could use slightly less frosting though.

My daughter loves her "pinkie" and we use it every night. It is easy for her to press the button on the bottom and it sets for 10 minutes or longer. The batteries don't last extremely long but it is really light weight and easy to travel. Great product!

We've been a huge fan of these GE lights and been using these for over an year. Recently (November, 2009), we ordered 3 more lights only to find that GE replaced the light bulbs with LEDs. Problems with the new set:

1) The light isn't as bright in the darker areas in the house, which is a huge minus.
2) After a couple of days of use, we found that one of the lights stayed on whole night in the master bathroom, even when there was no motion to trigger it.
3) We almost freaked out last night when another piece from this newly ordered lot lit up on its own. It was inside the house on the second floor and there are no rodents that could have triggered it. Needless to say that we searched the whole house at 10 p.m. for any signs of break in.

We simply think that this new generation of lights has not gone through GE's rigorous quality control process and needs some improvements to restore it back to the hall of fame.

We still like these lights (that's why the 4 star rating), but it was a great disappointment to see that GE team didn't weigh all options during the redesign. These new generation lights are recommended for bathrooms and for your kids bedroom, but not for the very dark corridors of your home (area leading to garage, etc.).

I bought this for my 19-month old son's room. It's perfect, not too bright, not too dull. I have it set on one specific color, but you can also leave it on "random" and it will scroll through several different colors. I LOVE that you don't have to change a bulb!!!
