The pictures were lovely, a few of the recipes looked fun to make, but the tone of the book just made me sad. This is a strange thing to say about a Christmas cookbook, right? I didn't understand the need to go on and on about her self described "pagan" beliefs in the introduction. If she didn't want to do a Christmas cookbook, and felt the need to rip on Christmas and exalt her own pagan celebrations, then I agree- don't go there. It just left me sickened to see the obvious exploitation of Christmas in order to make money. There is a reason for the season.

Good recipes, but they assume a working knowledge of the kitchen because many of the steps are slightly more complicated than they appear. Everything we've made has been delicious, (except for when we made bad substitutions in ingredients). The lamb with peppers and olives makes the entire book worth it.
