Extreme Prejudice starts with a quick draw contest and follows traditional Western themes for the rest of the movie. Nick Nolte and the rest of the cast are exceptional, but they're hampered by an uneven script. Rip Torn does an especially good job. Some of the dialogue is pretty pedestrian, and the plot is predictable. The climax is reminiscent of The Wild Bunch - The Original Director's Cut (Two-Disc Special Edition), but without the creative staging and photography. Despite these weaknesses, I enjoyed this 1987 film and it holds up very well. In fact, it was ahead of its time in revealing some of the issues around drug trafficking across the border.

I Love Trouble

I give I Love Trouble 5 stars easily because I can find nothing wrong with it. It's easily and naturally enjoyable upon each viewing and never gets stale. It has comedy, action, adventure, suspense and romance. It could be anyone's kind of movie really. I completely disagree with the Amazon review because this one is simply great. Nolte and Roberts play rival Chicago newspaper reporters each trying to out scoop the other. When a new mystery story presents itself, the two of them team up to try and uncover the truth. They don't make many films like this anymore and that's a shame. Also check out Bird on a Wire and Six Days Seven Nights which both feature a little bit of everything and can be watched repeatedly.
