 The Next Step in the Dance: A Novel $18.00 No doubt history will view Tim Gautreaux as one of the most important southern writers of his generation. It's hard to pick a favorite among his works, but I'd definitely list Next Step In the Dance among his finest. Gautreaux gives life to Louisiana and most particularly Cajun culture in a way that only one of it's own can; sidestepping tired clichs and revealing the subtle variances in attitudes and family relationships that are unique to south Louisiana. Collette is perfect example of the rich dimension and shadows that Gautreaux gives his characters. I'd recommend this book (along with the rest of Tim Gautreaux's works) to anyone looking for a true depiction of Cajun culture as well as anyone just looking for fiction full and deep enough to lead the reader along a roller coaster of emotion and understanding.  Next Steps: A Practical Guide to Planning for the Best Half of Your Life (The Best Half of Life) $14.95 This book is chock-full of valuable and pithy information for most baby-boomers, especially those with elderly parents/in-laws. The sections dealing with long-term care planning, durable health care power of attorney and Medicare and Medicaid were especially helpful to my spouse and me. We purchased several to give to family members as Christmas gifts!!  Toddler's Next Steps: ABC and 1-2-3 Songs $9.98 Our 2-year-old absolutely adores this video. I can play the video and she will sit and watch while I do things around the house. The songs are easy enough for her to understand that she is starting to sing them without the video on. It is not very often to find something educational and entertaining. Another hit is Toddler's Next Steps Animal Songs. The only reason for not giving a 5, is nothing is perfect, but this is close! |
