![]() Wyvern Mystery [VHS] $19.98 An amazing cast did this movie proud. Naomi Watts acted her heart out, and even if her accent sounds a little more Australian than English, she still did well, being utterly believeable in her role; indeed, the whole cast acted as if vying for an Oscar. Jack Davenport was as enigmatic as usual, of course. An interesting, fast-paced storyline keeps the interest, and there are thrills and dramas aplenty. I would highly recommend this British movie to anyone who likes mysteries and Gothic thrillers. I haven't read the book this is based on, so I can't comment on how it compares to the book. Judging by the other reviews, it would appear that it is actually an advantage not to read the book first, because doing so seems to jade people's opinions of the movie. But that so often happens with book-to-movie transitions, doesn't it? ![]() Ellie Parker $24.99 Ellie Parker was a refreshing look at a off beat documentary of a day in the life of an aspiring actress. Naomi Watts was really good in this roll and it had all the elements of a newby director and his first film, but still held together till the end. A pleasure to watch. Some of the getting there scenes were a bit nervy. I wonder how many retakes they had to film or did they just run it on a studio lot as she drove around the streets getting dressed for her next audition. Supporting characters were well cast. If your a fan of Naomi- give it a look. ![]() Esquire Magazine (April 2003) Naomi Watts on the cover (Vol. 139) $14.95 Esquire Magazine (April 2003) ![]() Mulholland Drive $14.98 Mulholland Drive is creepy as hell and beautiful to look at. Some will enjoy the music, the colors, the lighting, the pacing etc. Others will enjoy Naomi Watts incredible performance where she has to convey the full spectrum of human emotion. Think about it...the first part of the movie she plays a perky, naive idealist and by the end of the movie she is equally impressive as a burnt out, suicidal depressive. Anyone who has ever acted can tell you how hard that is to do in the same film. This is one of Lynch's best films. It is filled with unforgettable scenes (Club Silencio, The audition, The casting meeting with the director and the mobsters). This is one of those films that will stay in your head. |
