![]() My Bloody Valentine (Special Edition) [Blu-ray] $19.99 Twenty years after a Valentine”Ēs Day tragedy, a small town prepares for its annual holiday dance. When a box of candy arrives containing an eerie warning and a blood-soaked heart, the townsfolk realize that this Valentine”Ēs Day romance is as good as dead...and so are they! ![]() Tremolo E.P. $7.49 This EP is great, don't get me wrong. But if you buy this EP expecting it to sound like Isn't Anything, or Loveless you're very much mistaken. This EP was released before MBV lost their minds (in a good way) and started playing around with the guitar sounds they would come to be known by. The songs are very well written, but they're more pop-rock and only shoegaze in spirit. ![]() Isn't Anything $7.98 I prefer this to the more well known 'Loveless.' Unlike that album, which is great, 'Isn't Anything' is more legible to me-that is, the lack of glossy production allows the amazing technique of Shields and co. to come through more clearly. Sexy and Violent. ![]() My Bloody Valentine 3D/2D Flip $29.95 I saw the original My Bloody Valentine in the theater back in the Eighties and I remembered it as being pretty good. I will definitely have to check it out again someday, especially after having seen the remake. Well, when I saw this new 2009 DVD version, I just had to get it, and I'm glad that I did. It is every bit as good as the original, and then some. I first watched the 2D version because I didn't want to get too involved and distracted with the 3D effects, if you know what I mean? I wanted to enjoy the movie for the story itself, which I did immensely, even though I guessed who the killer was before it was revealed at the movies end. Anyway, the next time I viewed it, I watched the 3D version and while the 3D wasn't the greatest, it still looked pretty good for the most part. Sure, there was some red and blue fuzzy ghostliness to it here and there, but other times the effect worked perfectly. Especially in parts like where the killer throws his pickaxe at the screen, and where the tree branch crashes through the windshield. The thing about the movie was, regardless of the 3D, I enjoyed it even better the second time around, even though I knew how it would all play out. It was still just as suspenseful and scary the 2nd time around. And the cast was excellent, all of them. They really did a good job making you believe in and feel for these characters. The only downside that I can give this DVD is that, like others have already described, the 3D glasses that came with it were packaged loose, which caused some slight scratches on my disk, but both sides played perfectly still. Otherwise, this is a great horror flick that I highly recommend for a few good scares and laughs and most importantly, an excellent story and atmosphere. |
