Because I used to have a licensed day care, every month I would buy new things for the children in my care. We always had such a good time together, and these videos were ones we would watch during our movie time. The children never tired of them. In fact, I even had the sound track that I would play during lunch and quietly during rest-time. In this day of VIOLENCE AND SEX in movies, these are so refreshing to show to the little ones who come to visit. When my two teenagers walked into the house the first day I was playing this set, they both stopped and sat down exclaiming "I REMEMBER THESE!!!!!" Refreshing. ![]() Complete Beatrix Potter Collection 2pk $19.98 In this age when children's stories are told at an over-stimulating and frantic pace we have THIS beautiful collection! London is on the brink of World War 2, and times are tough; but things look particularly grim for one Miss Pettigrew (Frances McDormand). She's a children's nanny who can't seem to find her niche, instead living a desperate hand-to-mouth existance in the slums and soup-kitchens of the city; but everything turns around when she manages to land a job as "social secretary" to the dizzy American nightclub singer, Delysia Lafosse (Amy Adams). Delysia's complicated love-life needs a firm hand, and Miss Pettigrew fits the bill nicely, managing to turn her brief 24 hours of service into a life-changing experience neither of them will forget. MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY is a giddy romantic period romp, the perfect screen adaptation of Watson's fondly-remembered novel. Rising star Amy Adams ("Enchanted", "Doubt") adds another delightful role to her canon; Frances McDormand makes the character of Miss Pettigrew come to life with lots of untold layers. Lee Pace shines as Delysia's piano-playing boyfriend; with Shirley Henderson, Mark Strong and Ciarn Hinds. |
