![]() Too Old for This, Too Young for That!: Your Survival Guide for the Middle-School Years $14.99 My daughter started middle school a few weeks ago and is at that "in-between" age. My brother, who is a middle school teacher, suggested this book and she loved it. It seemed to have a lot of good information for what she was dealing with (and stuff that may still come up). I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is in middle school. ![]() A Smart Girl's Guide to Starting Middle School: Everything You Need to Know About Juggling More Homework, More Teachers, and More Friends (American Girl Library) $9.95 I bought this book for my new sixth grader. Most of what is in the book are things I've already talked to her about, but reading it a book makes things more legitimate for her. With this book she can be reassured and think out her concerns in her own time and space. ![]() Middle School: The Real Deal (revised edition): From Cafeteria Food to Combination Locks $7.99 My sixth-grade daughter borrowed this book from her teacher's classroom library, and she loved it so much that I bought her a copy! Although I think it has valuable tips that boys could use, I think that girls will be more drawn to the format. This is a must-have for anxious kids who are preparing to start or have just started middle school. It is packed with practical advice and fun quizzes that make it engaging. I highly recommend it! ![]() Help! I'm in Middle School... How Will I Survive? $9.95 I selected this book, among others, to help my daughter make the adjustment to middle school. Although this wasn't her favorite, she enjoyed it very much. She has always struggled a bit with organization skills in school (forgetting assignments, not getting forms signed, etc.). This book provided some good practical tips for getting and staying organized and really hit home the importance of organization -- something I've been telling her for some time. (But sometimes it needs to come from someone other than Mom.) |
