![]() Michelle: A Biography $25.00 what a nice picture of life in Chicago. The First Lady is truley special! ![]() LIFE Michelle Obama: A Portrait of the First Lady (Life (Life Books)) $24.95 Before the historic presidential election of 2008, LIFE Books published a best-selling volume entitled The American Journey of Barack Obama. In researching that book, the editors came to be deeply impressed not only by the exotic story of the candidate himself but also by the life and personality of the woman who would, if Obama were to prevail, enter the White House at his side. Michelle Robinson, the daughter of a Chicago municipal worker-and, in fact, a woman with slavery represented in her family tree-had risen to be educated in the Ivy League and was already embarked upon a successful legal career back in theWindy City before she ever met Barack Obama.Once she did, these two bright, charismatic young people influenced each other and rose together in Chicago politics. The rest, as they say, is history. As the nation came to know Michelle Obama, the nation fell for her-and for Malia and Sasha as well (plus now, of course, Bo). The same has happened on the world stage, where it has been observed that Michelle, with her vivacity and sense of style, has sometimes eclipsed her husband in the way that Jackie Kennedy outshone JFK back in the early 1960s. Meantime, Michelle has been out and about in Washington, working at the food bank, tending the garden, shepherding the kids. That, too, is part of the story-and all of it is here, in words and vibrant pictures, in LIFE's Michelle Obama: A Portrait of the First Lady. This is Michelle's story, from her girlhood to her current crucial role. It is not the story of the President's wife. It is the complete, illustrated biography of one of the most intriguing and captivating women in America. ![]() Michelle Obama: Meet the First Lady $16.99 DID YOU EVER BELIEVE THE TIME WOULD COME WHEN WE HAVE RADICAL RED, AMERICAN HATING OCCUPANTS OF THE WHITE HOUSE? AN ILLUSION THAT THIS PERSON REPRESENTS HOPE, ANY MORE THAN HER UNDER QUALIFIED HUSBAND DOES. AS FOR HER HUSBAND... HIS ONLY CREDENTIALS ARE BEING A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER, WHATEVER THE HELL THAT IS. The most inexperienced and least qualified of all presidents. Never held office previously Was only a Junior Senator with little experience with the legislative branch Never proposed any substantial ideas or innovative bills Never a CEO or in an executive position Has proven to be a polarizing figure with radical, anti American; anti white associates Claims victory for anything positive, but STILL blames all mishaps on Bush (thats getting old) This man is now a US President; not because he is qualified, but because his PUBLIC RELATIONS campaign succeeded at pushing the mantra of change... WITHOUT EVER DEFINING WHAT THE CHANGE WAS. Now that the honeymoon is over, it is clear to even the liberal element that this was a mistake and he is not what his campaign portrayed him. If you want to discuss real change, take a look at a real president, like that of Ronald Reagan. There are some fine audio books (Reagan in his own words, Reagan Diaries), this is for the serious scholar; and sell the Obama book on ebay for a $1, that's all it's worth. ![]() Michelle Obama: Speeches on Life, Love, and American Values $12.95 This is by far the best Michelle Obama book on the market. I have bought several others that, to my surprise, had only 40 or 50 pages of actual content. Finally, here's a book that delivers what I've been waiting for! The book is a solid package of Michelle Obama in her own words. It's not padded with uninteresting commentary or introductions - just Michelle. Just like I want. Thanks for a great book. My favorite parts are when she talks about uniting people behind a single purpose, to move the country forward with the same goal. It's very inspiring to hear a woman speak with so much strength and so much belief in Americans. And also when she talks about wondering whether or not her father would be proud of how she's using her life - I'm really moved by it. |
