![]() Momo (Puffin Books) $14.60 I read this book soon after i read the neverending story.By my opinion it is equally sucessful and just as magical. This is well written and cleverly thought out.The grey gentleman is a great metaphor for how time is taken forgranted and how its wasted.Plus this was made into a movie 13 years after it was published which was as well excellent.I would recommend this to anyone who has a taste in fantasy.Michael Ende is without any doubt my favorite fantasy author. In every childrens book he was able to make connections in life and able to use clever metaphors. ![]() The Neverending Story $22.99 Or dreams are the stuff this book is made of, both ways work. I have loved the movie based on this book since I was a kid, but had never had the chance to read the original story. Now that I have, I have to say the book is so much better (even though it would seem impossible). I actually got to care about the characters, even those that only appear in one chapter. I felt as if I knew them in person, and they all are presented as characters with their own lives and stories that go on even after their appearance here. The relationship between Atreyu and Bastian is very special (and very real). In the second half of the book (which I did not know if I'd like before I read it) is where we see most of this relationship. It made me get concerns about Bastian, to the point where I'd want to scold him. I smiled a lot of times as Bastian defeated some of the obstacles in the final chapters (and laughed out loud at some points during the book, as well). The book's presentation is very good. The cover features a beautiful illustration and is very durable. The text inside the book is printed with two inks, one for the "real" world and one for the world of Fantastica. These same inks are used in the illustrations for each chapter. I highly recommend anyone to buy this book. Kids and adults alike. They will all love it. And after reading it, they will most likely want to keep reading other books, too. ![]() Momo: O la extana historia de los ladrones del tiempo y de la nina que devolvio el tiempo a los hombres (Spanish Edition) $10.95 The first time I read Momo I was ten years old... I still lived in Cuba, and an Argentinian friend (gracias Marina, wherever you are!) of the family gave it to my father as a present, who immediately read it and passed it onto me. I have read all the reviews on this book and I have to reiterate all the wonderful comments made to praise Ende's work. El profesor Hora (Professor Time), la tortuga Casiopea (Casiopea the Turtle), los hombres grises (the grey men)... So many wonderful characters and metaphors... Certainly full of fantasy and wisdom, as many have pointed out, Momo carries a beautiful message in its entirety. It is one of those books that one never gets tired of reading... I love this book, and I highly recommend it as a must read for all, regardless of gender, age or background. A true gem and a splendid classic... ![]() Jim Knopf und Lukas der Lokomotivfhrer.: (Ab 6 J.). $20.70 Most people know the later novels of the German writer Michael Ende: The Neverending Story and Momo. However, his first book translated into English as Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver and the followup Jim Button and the Wild 13 were, perhaps, even more popular in Germany. I still have the adventures of this fearless pair of advneturers in vivid memory 30 years after first encountering them, and recently reread the first book. My only regret is that the English version is out of print. I hope that I can find a library copy when my children are old enough to enjoy them. |
