![]() Messenger: The Legacy of Mattie J.T. Stepanek and Heartsongs $25.95 I have never read a book that is more than 300 pages in one sitting - never! When I sat down to read "Messenger" it was early afternoon on a Sunday. When I finished reading "Messenger" it was 1am on Monday morning. I couldn't put the book down. Author Jeni Stepanek masterfully weaves the story of her and her son Mattie's journey - from their constant life-threatening medical challenges to Mattie's literary triumphs that resulted in positively changing the lives of millions and the roller coaster ride in between. Mattie's unique gift for sharing his wisdom of peace and hope through his poetry and essays on conflict and conflict resolution grabbed the hearts of Oprah, Larry King, President Jimmy Carter and millions across the globe - this is the extraordinary story of how it all happened. (Don't we always want to know "How did they do that?) And, while Mattie was truly a "Messenger", he was also a boy who had fun, laughed, lived life to the fullest and gave everything he had to everyone he could because his time was short - only 13 years on this planet - and he knew it. Jeni shares the intimate moments of their lives together- those times that we all have in our own lives and will never forget. She also shares Chapter 17 with us - saying goodbye. "Messenger" is a must read - period. My holiday shopping is done! Messenger: The Legacy of Mattie J.T. Stepanek and Heartsongs ![]() The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc $9.95 Milla Jovovich looks fantastic and so is her acting. I've never seen a movie that is so believable. The supporting cast is absolutely the best I've seen. I've never heard about most of them but they are great and along with Mill Jovovich make this the best movie I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie. After seeing this by accident I bought all of Milla Jovovich's movies {They, along with all other movies don't come close to this Masterpiece]. ![]() Messenger $7.50 So, this book wasn't as good as The Giver. And it does help to read The Giver and Gathering Blue before this one, since they are companion books. But it's not necessary. The word to describe this book for me is "interesting." It was a quick read. It was clean. It teaches a good moral. And it leaves enough unsaid that it makes you have to think for yourself and try to figure out what's going on. I got a little caught up in trying to remember Gathering Blue, so I could piece together some details. Overall, I liked it. But it was a little weird. And now it's made me want to read The Giver again. |
