![]() The Merv Griffin Show: 40 of The Most Interesting People of Our Time $29.95 This 4 disc version includes a bonus disc featuring Ronald Regan, John Wayne, and Gene Autry. As host of his eponymous talk show for nearly a quarter of a century, Merv Griffin said his audience saw him as "every mother's favorite son-in-law." Merv was the man who brought glamour and laughter into America's homes, but didn't shy away from spotlighting serious cultural leaders, controversial figures of the day, or mostly unknowns like Jerry Seinfeld and Tom Cruise. The three-discs of this initial set are filled with almost nine hours of remarkable interviews, including four United States Presidents (Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan); Hollywood royalty like John Wayne, Ingrid Bergman and Orson Welles; and titled royalty like Princess Grace. Culled from the 5,500 shows and 25,000 guests that appeared on the award-winning, critically acclaimed talk-show during its historic broadcast run, The Merv Griffin Show: 40 Of The Most Interesting People Of All Time. Merv Griffin was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2005 Daytime Emmys, adding another Emmy to the sixteen he already owns; he also was the sole honoree at the 2005 Museum of Television and Radio Gala, at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York attended by more than a thousand industry leaders and celebrities. Provocative, intimate and always entertaining, The Merv Griffin Show: 40 Of The Most Interesting People Of All Time hearkens back to an era when the art of conversation was truly an art! ![]() Merv: Making the Good Life Last $14.00 I've always been a fan of Merv, having grown up watching his talk show. Oh, those wonderful 'theme' shows. What a fascinating and fascinated character he was! And reading this made me wish all the more than I'd had a chance to meet and talk with the man. Parts of his life were downplayed or largely ignored in this book, but it still made for a highly entertaining read. ![]() The Complete Columbia Recordings $14.97 Although primarily known for his daytime talk show and as the creator of two of the most successful game shows in TV history - "Jeopardy" and "Wheel Of Fortune" - Merv Griffin was also a well-known actor ("So This Is Love," "The Boy From Oklahoma" and "Phantom Of The Rue Morgue") and vocalist (he was, in fact, the vocalist on the 1950 million-seller "I've Got A Lovely Bunch Of Cocoanuts.") This collection, for the first time ever, features Merv Griffin's entire Columbia output (he released 12 singles on the label) plus one previously unreleased track. ![]() The Merv Griffin Show - 40 of the Most Interesting People of Our Time $29.98 I wish every episode of all Merv Griffin talk shows, all Mike Douglas talk shows, ....every single episode should be put into DVD sets. And other talk shows from from the 60's and 70's. They were great. There was more of old hollywood around back then. The format was relaxed and cool, the several guests would sit together on couches and it wasn't rushed , it wasn't annoying. It was actually interesting to hear these conversations morph and change . They'd be real about fantastic stories they had tell about hollywood, you never knew what a group of hollywood people was going to say, The time periods were interesting. The fashion too. I t would be a trip back in time and I know plenty of old-hollywood fans would love to buy any DVD'as like this. |
