Grace is Gone does for the tear jerker genre what Paranormal Activity did for scary movies. It's a film that actually comes through on its premise. John Cusack is far outside of his normal character and an emotional freight train. The two girls that play his daughters are each in their own rights charming, believable and devastating. I love this movie even though it is one of the hardest things I've ever watched. I couldn't wait to purchase this masterpiece so my wife could watch it as I knew it would devastate her as it had me. Nothing like torturing the wife!!!

This is a good book, but is quite different from the movie. I liked the movie so much, I purchased this to get a more in depth take on the story. So I was a bit disappointed to find that the movie had taken the basic premise of the story of a single man adopting a troubled boy, but little else. It's still a good story, but I liked the movie better.

OK, lots of other folks have told you the content of the movie, so, I will not repeat it here. Actually, this is not a review, but just my opinion. I saw this movie at the theatre when it came out... I was 8 yrs old at the time and even as a kid, I thought this was a terrible movie. I know this doesn't really help you. Like I said, its just my opinion... When I talk to friends, I list this movie as one of the top ten movies I can't stand.
