I bought this movie used, for under a buck and did I ever get my money's worth. The story was very original and entertaining. It made me want to research the incident that it is suposed to have been based on. This movie would have been a block buster if it would have had Julia Roberts or Nicole Kidman playing the part of patient 14. The comentary on the DVD mentioned that it was developed to be a pilot for a TV series and I certinly would be interested in seeing stories developed using Liza's talents.

Stand-Ins is about six young women, each of whom is a 1937 era Hollywood studio employee who, because of their physical resemblance, takes the place of a famous actress (Rita Hayworth, Greta Garbo, Bette Davis, Mae West, Marlene Dietrich, Jean Harlow) and "stands in" on the film set when directors want to check lighting, camera angels, etc. and don't wish to tire out their stars for such mundane technical production steps in the making of their movies. The setting is a local bar where the six women gather together with the bar tender to celebrate the birthday of a seventh member of their little club of fellow stand-ins. Fascinating character developments with startlingly and intimate revelations throughout the afternoon, a sudden and surprising crisis, all are backgrounded with informative behind-the-scenes movie making insights. Stand-Ins is thoroughly entertaining, superbly produced, memorable enacted film that will enhance any community library video movie collection.

Why such films like this get good reviews is beyond me. The story is sooooo boring and the"DinoCroc" looks like a dinosaur made with 90's CG technology.

A Lab in a local Town develops a Giant Crocidile, why they and i have no idea. It gets lose and begins to eat people and the local nut decides to stop it while trying to prove it exists to the sheriff.

I baught the movie for $19.99 when it came out and i was greatly diappointed. Roger Corman is famous because he's a genious? Yeah right and im am Tom Cruise.
