![]() Oscar & Steve $18.98 A handful of pleasant & interesting tracks. Truly bizarre is Mandy's growling rendition of "You've Got To Be Carefully Taught". Yet there can be no doubt about the immense talent present here. Just be selective. ![]() Dress Casual $7.99 This is a great album. Patinkin may be, as some say, an aquired taste. But this is a strong album from start to finish. It's almost as good as the first album (Many Patinkin) and that's not small praise. ![]() Mamaloshen $18.98 Should be a classic. Forget the arguments about what Yiddish is supposed to be, how to speak it, where, etc. Yiddish speakers have tried to kill it by being language commandos but it lives on. Pantinkin is great as usual, and the track Rebbe Elimelech should become a classic alongside Aaron Lebedeff's Romania. You will love this album. ![]() Sings Sondheim $24.98 People who cannot appreciate the wit and beauty of Sondheim's songs and Patinkin's joyous renditions of them should refrain from writing reviews on this album. This is my favorite album of Patinkin's and his interpretations of Sondheim's songs are priceless...he seams to relish every clever phrase and beautiful chorus. Some of my favorite songs include "Free" from Something Funny Happened on the Way to the Forum, Patinkin captures the pain of slavery and the joy of being free, and it's funny too. "Beautiful" from Sunday in the Park with George and "Sunday" from the same. Because of this album I have found a much deeper appreciation for Sondheim's songs...what a wonderful thing to have. |
