Kevin Costner has had at least one great movie, Dances with Wolves, some real stinkers, and some in between. Nevertheless I like him as an actor. Revenge has some very good parts and some mediocre parts but all-in-all this is a decent movie.

This was a real sleeper, a good film that most people don't know about. Just check to see how many reviews are here: only a couple. It's also not available on DVD. That is a real shame, because this movie was beautifully shot.

I saw it on a poor-quality VHS and still looked nice, so I can imagine how good this would be with a clear transfer and great colors.

Nick Corri and Madeline Stowe play small-time thieves and lovers. Desperate for money, they do things they should not do in a few categories. Stowe, by the way, shows a lot of skin in this film, something she has not done in subsequent movies. She had just become a "name" actor the year before in the hit film, "Stakeout."

There is not much violence in this drug-crime movie and very little profanity. It's rated R for the nudity.

This is interesting film and certainly something that's different. If if ever comes out on DVD, I'm going to buy it.

China Moon

China Moon is an entertaining film with fine performances by Ed Harris and Madeleine Stowe; it also has a good score by George Fenton. My only comment is as follows: The main police investigation in the film revolves around the difference between the diameters of 38 Special and 9mm bullets. The fact of the matter is that there's no difference between the diameters of these two bullets; both 38 Special and 9mm bullets are .357 inch in diameter; in other words, 38 Special bullet diameter is also 9 millimeter. The 38 Special is not to be confused with the ordinary 38 caliber. The gun in question in the movie is a 38 Special, as in fact mentioned in one scene by the police captain when he's talking with Ed Harris.
