![]() ESPN MLS Extra Time 2002 $29.99 Although you'll initially curse the rigid control system, ExtraTime soon comes together as an above average soccer game. It runs at a smooth 60 frames per second at all times, there's virtually no load time, and it's got a great set of modes and options. The objective-based Scenario Mode in particular adds a welcome dose of originality to the standard array of modes found in almost each and every soccer game. On the flipside, there are also a number of problems that keep this game from being a favorite. In-game strategy options aside, it's simply not as well-rounded a package as last year's FIFA, lacks key licenses, and plays nowhere near as well as Konami's other soccer offerings. Konami will always have a special place in the hearts of soccer fans in Europe and Japan -- I realize that the US is still a niche market for soccer games, but it would be nice if we could all get to play the same game next time around. Since Xbox owners didn't get the superior FIFA 2002, this is currently the only MLS game around -- so give it a look if EA's World Cup game isn't your cup of tea. ![]() MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER: A Celebration of 10 Seasons (Limited Edition) $24.97 Major League Soccer doesn't publish a yearbook for each of its teams or the league as a whole, so your choices for MLS books are pretty much limited to this one. Not many pro sports leagues in America make it past an idea on a cocktail napkin, never mind ten years. But almost fifteen years later our brand of the real football continues to grow. Those expecting a page-turning read will be a bit disappointed. There are a few short essays here and there, but this book is really about the photos. LOTS of them. Most are a bit grainy and contrasty for my taste, but more than a few made me smile. There are some great action shots, but my favorite is a confrontation between Preki and Alexi Lalas. It's anyone's guess what they're saying to each other, but I will say that Preki's upper teeth are firmly below his lower lip. They had no idea they'd become teammates very shortly... Each team is pretty fairly represented, despite D.C.'s dominance in the cup final. This book is more than a little dated by now, but if you remember those wacky uniforms, Carlos Valderamma's hair, or that rain-soaked first MLS Cup match, you'll have no problem putting this book in your collection. ![]() Houston Dynamo MLS 09/10 Home Soccer Jersey $0.00 Country: USA #798288.OR Let 'em know who you're cheering for in the Texas Derby (against rivals FC Dallas) with Houston Dynamo's official home jersey ![]() MLS Easy Immersion Latvian Pro $29.95 I bought this back in the day when I had a PC, but now that I have a Mac I can't use it anymore. Though, when I did, I found it to be very helpful and fun. It was fully interactive and I seemed to be catching on very quickly. |
