This is the ultimate "feel good" movie. I am on Amazon now buying my 3rd copy of Benny and Joon, since I have worn the past two DVDs thin--you cannot get sick of this movie. The scene with Sam swinging across the window always makes me smile! Not many know about this movie, and I wouldn't say its an amazing feat in film making, but it's a great story. Makes you believe in happy endings.

Very entertaining film that traces the lives of four notorious crime leaders: Frank Costello, Bugsy Siegel, Meyer Lanski and Lucky Luciano. Excellent costume drama with some fine acting by Christian Slater and Anthony Quinn.
Although the film did not receive high marks when it was released, it has become very popular and provides a much closer storyline to factual events than other recent mob films. As time goes on, it will probably achieve "cult status." Definitely a film worth watching.
