Okay, I love most british films, most romantic comedies, and find often something redeeming in the ones I don't. This movie is a huge disappointment. I was drawn in by the great actors, but I wonder what drew them in. This movie has weak story lines, mostly unlikeable characters and uses every opportunity to include foul language, sex and nudity it can. The effectual message? Love Actually is Cheap.

It's been a number of years since I bought this CD and I'm still frequently bringing it off my shelves of nearly 1000 cds to listen to it. I had never heard it, as far as I remember in the hazy late 60's when it was originally released. I bought it based on some fantastic reviews I read. The reviewers were right, this album is a true classic. We've all heard of classic albums by groups like the Beach Boys, The Zombies, Beatles, etc., etc., but most people have never heard of this band. I'm telling you that if you somehow made it to this Love page on Amazon that,yes, a band that never sold more than about 100,000 copies of any of its albums (and that wasn't this one) in their original release, did make one of the finest rock albums ever and this is it. Incidentally I bought their first two albums after this one and was disappointed. This is the album that Arthur Lee thought would be his last and he paid great attention to detail and gave it his all. Some people I play it for say they sound similar to the Beatles. I've heard it called an acoustic symphony. Psychedelic folk rock is the genre they were tagged with. Arthur Lee wrote fantastic songs here and sings beautifully on them. The songs are acoustic based, but electric guitars are used quite effectively as well as horns and strings. The album flows and has some lyrics that will make you jerk your head around to look at the speakers. To conclude I believe this easily should be placed in a list of the best 10, 20 or 30 rock albums of all time and should therefore be considered for your music collection.

A General Theory of Love

This book is about brian development and how it pertains to attachment and love. It's clearly written and fascinating. It's not a quick read, especially in the beginning, but the insight into the biological underpinnings of love is worth it.
