![]() Lodging Hospitality $80.00 Lodging and Hospitality is a magazine with a mission. Its editors and writers want the hotel and resort managers and operators of the world to keep up to date on the latest trends and updates in hotel products and services. They want the people in charge of running a hotel to know exactly what options are available when it comes to planning a renovation; what top of the line services some of the more successful hotels are offering; and what new products have been proven to increase customer satisfaction ratings. This magazine is designed for those who manage and operate hotels and resorts and the articles are written from the perspective of operations. Specifically, this publication is aimed at the people responsible for a hotel's interior design, amenities, and general development. In fact, the subtitle of this magazine is "Ideas for hotel developers and operators". The articles focus on ways to make a hotel look and feel better. One article might focus on pillows and linens and how the thread count can make a difference in customer satisfaction. Another article might talk about renovating the entrance to your hotel in order to create a lasting, positive first impression. When Lodging and Hospitality isn't talking about design and general improvements, it is usually coving something newsworthy. In the "Brand Report" section, for instance, there are small, one to four paragraph updates on specific chain hotels and resorts and what they have been doing lately to improve their physical appearance or other situation. When the magazine isn't talking about specific resorts or hotels, it is talking about the hotel business in general. These articles can cover almost anything, from franchising to timeshare sales to financing an expansion. With a target market like hotel management, this magazine will likely have limited appeal. There isn't much here for the ordinary hotel employee because the articles are focused primarily on making changes to existing offerings or improving business. Thus, unless one is in management, there won't be much of interest in this magazine. And even if one is a manager, this magazine provides only a moderate amount of reading enjoyment. The articles never seem to get very involved to the level I would like, and this is especially true with the business oriented columns. I read these articles and get frustrated because I want to know more. Now, with the articles about making improvements to amenities or services, this magazine is pretty good. It is also good for those who want to find new suppliers, thanks to the plethora of advertisements. But the business columns are somewhat lacking. Lodging and Hospitality is a small magazine by most standards with fewer than 100 pages per issue. Because this magazine is shorter than most, the binding uses staples-- typical of a magazine of such short duration. Occasionally, there will be a longer issue- like the year end Almanac Issue- that exceeds 150 pages and uses more professional binding. But the short, staple bound binding is the norm. Advertisements are common in this magazine, and this is par for the course with publications in this genre. You can expect to find ads on about 70 percent of the pages of each issue and that includes a classified section in the back with even more ads for hotel related products and services. Working in the hospitality industry presents many challenges to those who are responsible for management and development. Lodging and Hospitality offers a few innovative ideas on updating a hotel or resort and making it as attractive as possible to guests. It isn't the greatest magazine, but I recommend it for those who work in the lodging business. ![]() Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry $73.95 A important book which all the upcoming hotel owners in India should have in possesion. ![]() Regalware Food Service Lodging Economy Stainless 2.5-quart Cover $14.00 Regalware Lodging Economy Stainless Steel feature durable stainless steel construction with aluminum-slab bottoms to insure even heat distribution throughout the cooking process.
