Baptism was quite a surprise to me as I caught myself listening to it more I would've thought... That said, one of the things that caught my attention was that Baptism sounds more real and less commercial than Lenny's two albums that preceeded it. Of course he enjoys his status as a star but I can see where he comes from when he sings songs against it - it really might be tough sometimes. I particularly dig the Sly Stone-influenced Sistamamalover, that groove... Baptism is also a quite balanced album full of nice contrasts and definitely serves as a rebirth on his career.

I have read many reviews stating that this effort from Lenny was not in the top ten, but I beg to differ!He is still got that same prince/sly stone/funkadelic/black murda/ fugi/curtis mayfield funk combination that I am used 2.And at the same time being totally original.
